January 1, 2004

Dear Fellow Helpers,

Happy New Year! My, what excitement as we enter into another year of opportunities to serve our Lord. We certainly want to thank the Lord for all His blessings of mercy and grace for 2003. I think we can heartily echo the words of the song – God Has Been So Good To Me! Yet we still believe the best is yet to come in 2004.

We closed out 2003 with a wonderful month. Bro. Dave Padgett and Bro. Dave Padgett, Jr. came to visit with the Rock of Ages Prison Ministry Team and ministered at our church. Our folks were really blessed with their preaching, singing and testifying. They went out into the villages on visitation with us on Saturday and both led people to Christ. We are so thankful they came. Below we have a picture of them with a group of our soul-winners and extension workers. Also pictured is Mrs. Maryte Romero and her children. Her children have attended our Community Bible Breaks since our return and Bro. Padgett was able to lead Maryte to Christ while visiting. The following Sunday Maryte and the children attended church for the first time and we were able to present her with a King James Bible from the BEAMS Ministry. We thank the Lord for still making a difference in peoples lives here in the Philippines.

Please continue to pray for these new converts to grow in His grace, the Murray family and the New Beginnings Baptist Church family of Bacolod City, Philippines.

Love & prayers, The Murray Family

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Building Project Update $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

We are very saddened to say that we have had very little response thus far in our fundraising efforts to build our church building. Therefore, we have not started building. I understand that this is a difficult time to be raising funds for a project on the foreign field. However, now that the holidays are over, we are hoping to see a miraculous improvement in the next few months. We are waiting for the Lord to supply the needed funds. Please pray about what the Lord would have you to do concerning this need. We will be very limited in this ministry until we can have a church building. Please pray and if the Lord leads you, please send your offering to IBOM and designate it for the MURRAY – BUILDING FUNDS!

Testimonies from the Mission Field
Richard “Smiley” Gargoles

When I was only 8 or 9 years old, my family was faithful in church, but it’s a charismatic church. So, I grew up with a godly family. One day Pastor Chris came and we began going to his house. He decided to start a church and I decided that I would not go back to the charismatic church. I stayed at Pastor Chris church and became faithful but after a year I backslid and was out for many months. One day, Willy and Rhody invited me to come back to church. Then I decided to come back and become faithful again. I enjoyed going on visitation, and the church activities. For years I stayed faithful, but I felt like there was something missing in my life. I struggled until I realized that I’m not yet saved. I thought that being a good and faithful person can save my soul. On September 15, 2002 I prayed in my room alone and I received Jesus as my Lord and personal Saviour. I was baptized on July 20, 2003. Now, I’m felling good and complete. My life was changed. I am now a faithful member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church. Just a few weeks ago, I felt the Lord calling me into the ministry and I submitted my life to be a preacher. - Richard Gargoles

Richard is growing in the Lord in so many ways. He leads one of our Community Bible Break Teams and is doing a wonderful work. He is a very enthusiastic preacher and teacher of the Bible stories. The kids love him and his area is our fastest growing area. I am thankful to the Lord that He is still making a difference in the life of Richard Gargoles and through Richard He is making a difference in the lives of others as well.

Dear Mr. Postman

As you deliver this piece of mail may I ask you a few questions? Do you realize how many millions of pieces of mail you and your fellow-postmen handle each day? Do you realize that any other postman could have picked up this piece of mail? But did you know that God may have allowed you to pick this up for a reason? You see the Bible tells us that

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
